Carl Conner was born in Windsor, North Carolina on January 18, 1928.
He is the youngest son and second youngest child of John William Conner & Clara Lawrence Conner.
Carl married Sara Elizabeth Hege on Saturday, June 13, 1953.

Carl Conner was a Husband, a Father, a Pastor, an Educator, an Administrator, a Journalist and a Freelance Writer. He retired after a life time of Christian Ministry, as well as an Ordained Assemblies of God Minister for well over 50 years and a Pastor for over 28 years. During his time as a Pastor, he helped build what are, at the time of his passing, two of the largest churches in America [with about 2,000 in attendance each]:

First Assembly of God in Winston-Salem, NC, 1966-1981 and Calvary Assembly of God in Toledo, OH, 1981-1985.

He also served as the Director of Public Relations with the Assemblies of God at their international headquarters in Springfield, Missouri from 1952 to 1966 and as a Journalism and Photography Instructor at Central Bible College and Evangel University. Before that he worked as a Newspaper Editor of a daily newspapers in Niles, Ohio and Dunn, North Carolina. He composed at least one song [Ever Near Me], authored at least one book [Selecting A New Pastor], co-authored at least one more [Operation Sunday School, 1957 with T. F. Zimmerman and others], was published in more than two dozen magazines, pastored 4 churches, served as the general contractor for two homes [his first family home and his last, retirement residence], over saw the building of two churches, preached in almost 50 churches, was a guest on the PTL Television Network several times, taught at three colleges and did his graduate studied abroad in Israel and the Middle East.
Carl enjoyed studying God's Word, speaking, reading, writing, playing the piano, listening to gospel and classical music, gardening, collecting coins and stamps. His favorite writer was Pastor Clovis G. Chappell who authored over 30 books.
In 1991 after the passing of his wife Sara Hege Conner, Carl married Violet Monette Rich Hayes Conner on July 27, 1991. They remained married until his passing.
Carl Graham Conner's physical body was placed to rest in peace at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Pastor Carl Conner, 83, of 136 Dances Bay Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Albemarle Hospital. Pastor Conner, a native of Windsor, NC was the son of the late John William Conner and Clara Lawrence Conner and the husband of Violet Monette Rich Hayes Conner of the residence. He was a retired minister having been an early, long time Pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Winston-Salem, NC and served several churches in Georgia and Ohio before becoming Pastor of New Life Assembly of God Church in Elizabeth City, NC
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Charles Conner of Winston-Salem, NC and Gary Conner of Indianapolis, IN, three step-sons, David Hayes of Allen, TX, Jimmy Hayes of Columbus, GA, and Richard Hayes of Kingsport, TN, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Hege Conner.
A funeral service was Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God Church with the Pastor Clay Manos officiating. The family received friends at Twiford's Memorial Chapel Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. A graveside service was Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC. Memorial donations may be made to the Carl G. Conner Journalism Award Scholarship, 1111 North Glenstone Avenue, Springfield, MO 65802-2125.
